Second graders got off to a great start this year! We are busy learning procedures for the classroom, hallway, lunch and playground. We are emphasizing TAME lines. Ask your child what a TAME line looks like. In math, we are learning about place value concepts with two and three digit numbers. In reading, we are learning about good reading habits. Some of these are: reading daily, reading just-right books, thinking about what we read, and remembering what we read. In writing, we are learning writerly habits. We know that writers write daily, they write about what they know, and they share and learn from each other. We look forward to building on the children’s skills as they progress through the year.
